Info follows for the BASIC PISTOL SAFETY COURSE necessary for a Conceal Carry Permit. This course meets state requirements and is valid throughout the state of Missouri. Classes will fill on a first come / first serve basis with a maximum limit. Classes on Saturdays, weekdays or evenings will be formed and set up as requested. All those completing and passing the basic pistol safety course, and the conceal carry portion of the course, will receive a completion certificate that can then be taken to your county sheriff to apply for a conceal carry permit. The cost paid to the county sheriff for the conceal carry permit is (presently $38 in Chariton County)$100 for 3 years, and then can be renewed for $40 for an additional three years. You must be 23 years of age to apply. This ten hour course includes a test on basic pistol safety, a study exam on the law and statute, as well as a live fire exam where 15 of 20 rounds must hit a B-27 silhouette target. You are required to show the ability to load, unload, and marksmanship with both a revolver and a semi-automatic pistol. An alternate pistol will be provided for you if needed. Just because you take this course it does not guarantee you will receive a completion certificate. All requirements of the law must be met.
