Main
Street Room
This room was designed to show you how a19th
century Chariton
County town might
have looked. There is a bank with bars
on the teller window. A printing shop
complete with a linotype press once used to print the Salisbury
Press-Spectator. There is a barber shop
with the well-known barber pole with the red stripe indicating the
blood-letting barbers once did. The fire
truck from the 1930’s sure looks different from the fire engines of today. And the general store is there to browse
through…and while you’re there you might want to check your post office box for
mail. If your horses need new shoes, you
can stop by the blacksmith shop. The
covered wagon is there being repaired.
